Nation's #1 recruit, AJ Dybantsa, commits to BYU

AJ Dybantsa made his decision on where he was going to play college basketball on the popular ESPN talk-show "First Take." While the selection may have surprised the hosts, it certainly was expected by the rest of the CBB community. Dybantsa picked BYU over a reported final 4 that included UNC, Alabama, and Kansas. The main factors being an NIL package rumored to be over $7M and an opportunity to play for a coach who has 20+ years of experience in the NBA.

Kevin Young took over in Provo after Mark Pope left to take the Kentucky job. Young had a very successful first off-season, flipping 5-star recruit Kanon Catchings from Purdue and bringing in 6'10" PG Egor Demin from Russia. Both of those players are expected to enter the NBA Draft after this season. While the results on the floor haven't exactly been great, things are looking up for BYU hoops as they bring in Dybantsa. With the program now in the Big 12 conference, and significant NIL backing, we can expect BYU to be a fixture in the College Basketball lanscape long after Dybantsa goes to the NBA.
