NFL Power Rankings 9/18

Here are our Post Week 2 NFL Power Rankings. These are based on preseason expectations and what we've seen so far.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)

    1. Despite getting little out of star Tight End Travis Kelce, the Chiefs have victories against the Ravens and Bengals. Patrick Mahomes continues to be the best QB in the NFL while Chris Jones causes problems on the defensive line. RB Isiah Pacheco has a broken fibula and will miss 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery. The question is, will the Chiefs be able to be efficient without their star RB?

  2. Houston Texans (2-0)

    1. The Texans went all out in the offseason in order to get weapons for promising young QB CJ Stroud. So far, the additions of RB Joe Mixon and WR Stefon Diggs have paid off, with production in victories over the Colts and Bears. Between those two and WR Nico Collins and WR Tank Dell, Stroud may have the most weapons in the league.

  3. Detroit Lions (1-1)

    1. The Lions have started the season 1-1, with an OT victory against the Rams and a home loss to the Bucs. They certainly were a bit sloppy in the loss, but Dan Campbell will surely shore things up as the Lions look to build on the momentum of the past two seasons. RB Jahymr Gibbs, RB David Montgomery, WR Amon-ra St. Brown, and TE Sam Laporta are slated to be important pieces offensively while WR Jameson Williams leads the NFL in receiving yards after Week 2. Expect the Lions to be in and around the top of these rankings all year long.

  4. San Francisco 49ers (1-1)

    1. The 49ers dominated the Jets in Week 1 before slipping up against the Vikings in Week 2. Decision time is nearing for QB Brock Purdy as his rookie contract expires after the season, which has made building the rest of the team much easier. Star RB Christian McCaffery has not appeared this year, recently being put on the IR. Star WR Deebo Samuel Sr also picked up an injury in Week 2 and is unlikely to appear in Week 3. Despite all this, RB Jordan Mason has filled in admirably as the 49ers look to weather the early storm.

  5. Buffalo Bills (2-0)

    1. Despite losing Stefon Diggs, the Bills offense has looked sharp to start the season, putting up 34 and 31 points in the first two weeks. QB Josh Allen looks like an early favorite for the MVP award as the Bills are rolling early on this season.

  6. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)

    1. The Eagles started off the season with a bang, knocking off the Packers 34-29 in Sao Paulo, behind an impressive 3-TD performance from new RB Saquon Barkley. The team did struggle in Week 2, falling to the Falcons at home on MNF 22-21. The offense, led by QB Jalen Hurts, looks to regain the early season form from last year before things went off the rails late.

  7. Green Bay Packers (1-1)

    1. After falling to the Eagles in Brazil and losing QB Jordan Love to a knee injury, Green Bay knocked off Indy 16-10 in Week 2. The defense looks like they'll be a problem all year and when Love returns the offense won't be far behind. RB Josh Jacobs comes into the fold while WR Jayden Reed and WR Romeo Doubs are options in the passing game. At this time it's not known how long Love will be out, but when he returns, Green Bay is one of the better teams in the NFL.

  8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0)

    1. There hasn't been an offense that has looked as good as the Bucs so far. With QB Baker Mayfield impressing and WR Chris Godwin putting up numbers so far. Liam Coen is the new OC, after Dave Canales took the Panthers' job, which looks to be an upgrade so far. Baker has always had options, and now it looks like he's ready to use them.

  9. Dallas Cowboys (1-1)

    1. The Cowboys rolled to a Week 1 win in Cleveland but were shocked at home by New Orleans in Week 2. QB Dak Prescott finally got his contract extension and should deliver, with some real weapons in WR Ceedee Lamb and TE Jake Ferguson in the passing game. The questions are in the RB room, which currently makes up of Rico Dowdle, Ezekiel Elliot, and Deuce Vaughn.

  10. Los Angeles Chargers (2-0)

    1. Jim Harbaugh has already instilled his hard-nosed football philosophy into the Chargers. They have rolled to two early victories against the Raiders and Panthers. The defense will be good and the running game will be good, which are two non-negotiables for Harbaugh. Add those two with star QB Justin Herbert and you have a football team that can do some serious damage with an easier schedule.
